The Church Building
As it says over the front door the first building on the site was built
in 1860 but became too small and the present building was built in 1890.
Though it only looks small from the outside (and the main hall does only
hold about 120 people when full) it is like a 'Tardis' inside and rooms
open up to more rooms and very soon you are lost and can't find your way
out. We advise that you take emergency supplies with you if you decide
to take a stroll through the rooms. Here's a quick 'virtual tour' of the
building.
Main
church service room
As you can see we believe in being comfortable so the chairs are upholstered
and the heaters keep us warm in all weathers. The worship is mostly modern
songs with the words displayed on the overhead projector. This room is
also used for the mid-week prayer meeting.
Mums
& Toddlers room
Every Tuesday morning this room is filled with up to twenty babies and
toddlers with their parent/grandparent and much fun is had by all. Jean
always leads the toddlers in singing nursery rhymes and other children's
songs.
Playgroup
room
At the moment this room is used for collecting and packing the used computers
that we are sending out to the children in the village schools in Shillong,
Northeast India.
Youth-club
room
Every Friday this room is filled with youngsters who enjoy the table-tennis,
pool, darts and other activities. The drum and guitar room is just off
this room which fortunately has a very heavy, sound-proof door. We are
just starting a graffiti wall project for the arty ones amongst us.
Kitchen
This is where all the food is prepared when we have the Alpha Course running.
We have developed a wondeful 'table' and Fraser's Lasagne and Joyce's
Coronation chicken are not to be missed.
